It is a generic RIFF decoder, capable of reading AVI, CDR, PAL, WAV and many more file formats which are based on the RIFF standard.

It tries to compensate for RIFF implementation errors (such as CDR) and reads files in network byte order as well as standard "intel-" ordered files.
